In today’s rapidly evolving organizational landscapes, the concept of leadership and authority requires reevaluation to keep pace with emerging trends. Madeleine Laugeri (2009) emphasizes the significance of the bottom line in shaping working contracts within organizations. Modern, agile organizations, increasingly influenced by Millennials and the Net Generation, challenge traditional power structures.

TA consultants are at the forefront of creating healthier group systems and organizations. They recognize that new generations should not be viewed as children to be molded by existing leaders in symbiotic chains that often are presented as mentoring pathways, but as valuable contributors to organizational change. This approach fosters mutually interdependent exchanges between generations, leading to innovative and co-created narratives that challenge legacy systems.

We question if the traditional concept of Authority, as described by Eric Berne (1966), needs to evolve. Berne’s notion of Authority includes “unspoken expectations and restrictions” and identifies various sources of authority, such as cultural, historical, personal, and organizational.
How do we conceptualize emerging forms of Authority that are not solely based on traditional leadership and power dynamics (Fox, 1975; Krausz, 1986)?

In this co-creative exploratory workshop, we will engage participants in a group learning process to explore:

Understanding Authority in Modern Organizations: How does authority theory help us comprehend current organizational challenges?
Revisiting the Concept of Authority: Does the traditional concept of authority need to be updated in light of contemporary organizational developments? If so, how?
Millennials & Net Generations: How do we conceptualise in terms of Leadership / Power and Authority the way Millennials & Net Generation experience the organisations?

Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking workshop designed to redefine leadership and authority models to better align with the needs of today’s dynamic and intergenerational workplaces.
