The themes of the conference are Legacy, Legitimacy and Identity How do they shape our individual and collective experiences?

An equally important question is, how do our experiences shape our understanding of these concepts. How does our definition of them change in the course of social and individual development?

Using a combination of Transactional Analysis and Spiral Dynamics, I will offer a model for understanding how societies go through a sequence of development stages, just as individuals do, and how values and frames of reference change accordingly over time.

Such an understanding allows us to identify for social groups what developmental needs are foremost, just as we might do for individual clients. This also enables us to be recognise and appreciate social and cultural differences within the context of the developmental spiral.

Participants will be introduced to the theory of Spiral Dynamics and how it corresponds to aspects of Transactional Analysis, with particular reference to Autonomy and Homonomy.

The workshop will be experiential and include large group and smaller group processes.

Due attention will be given to the safety of participants in any exercises.
