“In this experiential workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore the earliest ways of making interpersonal contact through work with the body. Berne said that it is not only important to understand why we say “hello”, but perhaps even more important is how we say “hello”. Our bodily gestures, postures, and movements carry the legacy of our experiences, reflecting not only our sense of self but also defining our interactions with others.

Drawing from Spitz’s insights on the pivotal role of the body in shaping the sense of self and connection with others, we will explore how our bodily script, developed early in life, influences the contact with others in the present moment. Body postures, movements, our open or closed gestures – each reflects our unique life story, contributing to the narrative of our identity and influencing the legitimacy we feel in our interactions.

Through experiential exercises drawn from the work of Ruella Frank (Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy), participants will deepen their awareness of the elements of their bodily script and its impact on their ability to connect authentically with others. We will explore how the body, carrying the imprints of past experiences of early developmental movements, serves as a vessel for our legacy, and how understanding these bodily expressions can lead to a more empowered and congruent sense of identity.

In addition to experiential exploration, the workshop will offer space for group process and integration with TA theory, facilitating a holistic understanding of the intricate interplay between our bodily expressions, our sense of self, and our connections with others.”
