What does it mean to be a PTSTA? How many roles are woven into the fabric of this designation? Which do you embrace? Which leave you feeling uncertain? And what are your expectations of yourself – and others – as you navigate this unique stage of becoming.

This experiential workshop invites you to explore the unique and liminal identity of the PTSTA alongside fellow travelers on this path. Using Bernd Schmid’s concept of roles as a framework, we’ll delve into the multifaceted experience of being a PTSTA. As Schmid describes it, “Role Competence [is] a question of attitudes, feelings, behaviors, perspectives on reality and ideas about relationships.” This framework provides a clear language and structure to examine the potentially diverse and sometimes confusing aspects of this professional identity – especially as it relates to our developing competence in the role.

Together, we will:

  • Identify and reflect upon the various roles we inhabit as PTSTAs.
  • Explore how these roles manifest in our work and interactions.
  • Share our personal experiences and insights with fellow PTSTAs.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of our own evolving relationship to the PTSTA designation.

This workshop is facilitated by three PTSTAs from the Education and Organisational fields who themselves have been grappling with the questions of: Who am I (as a PTSTA)? Who are you (in relation to me as a PTSTA)? And what’s it (the business of being a PTSTA) really all about?

Are you ready to explore the liminal space of being a PTSTA?

This workshop is intended for PTSTAs or those getting ready to become a PTSTA from all fields.
