In the workshop, I will offer emotional literacy tools that people can use to develop their own parenting identity. I developed these tools in a parenting identity development training that I have conducted over the years. The goal was awareness of one’s own parental identity, which contributes to effective interaction and constructive communication with children.
The development of parental identity is an important process that helps parents better understand and fulfill their role in raising children. Emotional literacy tools can make this process much easier.
- Stroking: teaching parents to exchange strokes and use self-stroking.
- Emotional Awareness: Parents learn to be aware of and recognize their own emotions and those of their children, which helps them respond better to their child’s needs.
- Emotion regulation: learning techniques to manage your emotions that will help parents stay calm in stressful situations.
- Empathy: Developing the ability to empathize with the child, which contributes to the formation of a strong emotional bond.
- Communication skills: open and effective communication with children helps to build trust and mutual respect.
Using these tools allows parents to become more confident and effective in their role, promoting healthy emotional development for both children and parents.
