Exploring The Legacy Of The OK Corral In A New Light: A Grid For What’s Happening In The Body

Robin Robinson PTSTA-P
Field of audience: P

Language: English
Level of audience: All

This workshop is aimed at all individuals interested in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and the OK Corral. TA students as well as qualified TA psychotherapists, teachers, trainers, and supervisors are all welcome.
It is recommended that TA practitioners who wish to attend will have experience of working in clinical practice under supervision, working with clients on a one-to-one basis or working with couples and groups.
During this workshop we will explore the legacy of the OK Corral in a ‘new light’ and consider a new grid as a visual aid that recognises non-verbal, somatic processes linked to life positions on the OK Corral.
TA theories that will be helpful to hold in mind during this workshop include working with unconscious processes and the theory of Deconfusion (Berne, 1961; Hargaden & Sills, 2002), including non-verbal aspects and the body. Some knowledge of Robin Hobbes’ work on TA and attachment theory and the OK corral would also be useful.
Experiential exercises with group dialogue will generate a sense of safety, openness and exploration, and individuals will be able to reflect on and consider how recognising ‘movement’ around the OK Corral linked to non-verbal processes would be helpful in their clinical work.
Attendees will be able to take home the new ‘grid’ as a practical tool incorporating the Bodyscript (Cassius 1958, cited in Ligabue, 1991) and the OK Corral, and adapt it into their clinical work.
