How aware of their heritage are our clients in our therapy practices? How does the transgenerational scenario intervene in their legitimacy and identity? How can we detect with them the hidden legacies, loyalties and secrets that hinder them?
When therapeutic work that was progressing well becomes bogged down, when we have investigated the main impasses, but a blockage still persists, it is certainly time to explore what is happening at the transgenerational level which is transmitted through unresolved problems from previous generations.
This is the time to look at what unconscious loyalties are transmitted through the ages with sometimes serious incidents (madness, suicide). Or it may be less pronounced impacts such as an insufferable job that is merely tolerated and unwanted. It may also be a “Skeleton in the closet” that haunts through generations after a traumatic experience.
The worse the trauma is experienced, the more shameful the secret, the more it will be hidden, creating a void in the psyche and serious repercussions in the following generations.
We will base ourselves on the concepts of Ego States, Impasse and Scenario in order to understand the mechanisms at work in these transgenerational transmissions. We will also present by example of a clinical case, how different approaches in Transactional Analysis, and in particular the interview and the therapy of the Parent, can accompany the client towards healing.
Finally, we will devote time to testimonies, sharing of experiences and discussions.
