This workshop offers an integrative model for working with clients with developmental trauma building on the work of Judith Herman (1992). Identify the disowned victim and the internalised perpetrator and understand their role in both perpetuating the trauma and offering a road map for healing. Introducing the work of Peter Levine and Somatic Experiencing® to work with the somatic presentation of the victim – perpetrator dynamic in the nervous system. Extending the Ego state model of Child – Parent conflict into the victim – perpetrator dynamic to work with the intra-psychic and interpersonal presentations. This model assists clients to own the vulnerability that is the essence of the victim archetype and challenge the inner perpetrator to disable it and choose safe and protective replacements. Both are necessary for the resolution of developmental trauma.
