This workshop will invite the Transactional Analyst to consider the eventuality of the professional complaint.  As our professional roles are exposed to an ever-increasing litigious context, you will be asked to consider the “not if…but when” of receiving a professional complaint.

Attendees will be invited to consider complaints from the differing views of the complainant, the provider of the service, supervisor and organisational contexts.  Through case study, discussion and personal reflection attendees will consider their resilience and resourcefulness,   the processes of loss and grief within a complaints process and understand the levels of support that might be required for all parties.

Takeaways from the workshop:

  • To gain the sense of a defendable rather than a defensive practice
  • How do we protect our sense of self and integrity as practitioners?
  • A raised awareness of the reality and impact of complaints on everyone involved.
  • To consider issues of loss and grief around complaints.
  • To identify our roles and responsibilities within the complaints process.
