Making Room for Questions: Inquiries into the Theory and Methods of TA Psychotherapy
Steff Oates
Diana Deaconu
Field of audience:
Language: English
Level of audience:
The workshop will engage participants in a journey of understanding the evolution of TA psychotherapy over seven decades from Berne’s early work on intuition through to the formation of separate schools and, subsequently, a variety of approaches.
With the participants the presenters will reflect on the theory and facilitate ways in which theoretical models can be understood both in terms of their aspirations, as well as potential blind spots. The ethos that we would like to honor through this workshop is deeply rooted in the importance of us as practitioners remaining open to question and in the joy of us sharing a theory that is robust enough to span the decades.
Participants will be invited to share their experiences, imagine themselves in the various decades and in the process of the evolution of TA theory and practice.
The presenters will use techniques that stimulate an embodiment of the era when such profound ideas were shaping. There will be encouragement for the participants to engage in playing with the evolution of ideas from then to now and into the future.
