Transactional Analysis (TA) is a cultural model that offers a common language that allow to express theories of a large variety of types of psychotherapies (Psychodynamic, Cognitive/Behavioural, Gestalt, Relational etc.), and consequently it finds its natural application in several contexts of interventions (Psychotherapy, counselling, educational and organizational). Since its origin is based on Erick Berne’s observations of the results of the Neurosurgeon Wilder Penfield, the TA has shown its natural neuro-scientific vocation and its critical position against scientific boundaries. Nowadays the development of neuro-psychoanalysis and of functional neurosurgery renewed interest in finding a common language between psychotherapy and neuroscience, where TA could offer its contribution again. For this reason, we present an inspiring case, where TA psychodynamic psychotherapy has been used for the treatment of a patient affected by a post-traumatic neurologic injury. The patient has shown an impressive neuro-psychological improvement as demonstrated by adequate tests performed along the whole course of the treatment. Finally, we conclude sharing our neuro-scientific reflections of the possible role that TA psychodynamic psychotherapy could play in neuroplasticity.
