It is very important for a couple to save the human values, a position “I am OK, You are OK” and intimacy recognising the differences inside the family when the geography and usual way of living change significantly and unexpectedly. It is not easy to do this without breaking the relationships in tense situations when the decisions are made fast and many factors affect them. Review of the relationship is required with understanding that things will not be the same again, as well as creating of new identity of the couple taking into account partners’ common values and legacy that they’ve received from parental families and their country of origin.

At the current moment compelled relocation takes a mass character, that’s why I have chosen to present this topic.

The workshop will address the issues of special types of conflicts and crises in couples related to the changing situation in the world, the loss of usual way of life in conditions of unforeseen relocation and change of residence due to loss of safety, work and adaptation to new conditions. This challenges the habitual well-being, stability and traditional family structure and connections with relatives e.g. due to the different perception of causality of events in the world in the families of the spouses’ origin, which undoubtedly affects the relationship.

During the workshop the triggers of conflicts (emotional, domestic, territorial, cultural), factors influencing their occurrence, course and development, and ways to resolve them will be considered.

I’ll present practical examples of my work with couples using the concepts of Transactional Analysis such as Personality Adaptations Model, V. Joines; Doors of Contact, P. Ware; Cycles of Development, P. Levin, etc.
