In this workshop we aim to present some reflections and pragmatic reviews of elements of Transactional Analytics theory that concern the following topics
The standard nomenclature of ego states favors confusion between structural contents and functional manifestations; we propose new definitions of Functional Ego States that favor the distinction between Structure and functions
We treat and consider rackets emotions as an effect of the internal dialogue generated by the personal belief system
In the treatment of symbiosis we intervene “contemporaneously” on the aspects of adhering, comparing and interrupting, instead of following a sequential chronology, combining analytical and parental interventions
We have further developed J.James’ considerations on games by identifying a homeostatic value and instinctual expression
The reflections on the Script lead us to consider it a physiological and necessary element to develop a manager of the intrapsychic instinctual world, in the absence of physiological and genetic managers of our instinctuality and our endemic conflict as humans. The implications in the clinical field are that the work on the Script and on the games must be oriented towards highlighting its “functionality” in order to build a new manager of the intrapsychic world
Consequently, the psychic symptom takes on a homeostatic value that must be explored. The environment surrounding the symptom represents a method for exploring the homeostatic meaning from the first encounters
In the general rereading of theory and practice, the management of Transference and Countertransference become both a way of phenomenologically analyzing, in the here and now, the unconscious meanings of games and scripts, and a way of encouraging the exploration of alternatives and consolidate relearning
The management of Transference and Countertransference aimed at promoting experiential reliving opens up the use of provocative and paradoxical interventions
