During the workshop, I would like to invite participants to explore to the questions – Who am I, why do I do what I do, where am I going ? This will be facilitated by discussing selected concepts from transactional analysis and other theoretical approaches, which – in my view – constitute components of the professional identity model:
- Schmid’s role theory (1994)
- McLeod’s detailed reasons why people choose helping professions (2003)
- one’s talents, values, limitations in working as a consultant, coach, team coach (e.g. Allamandri, Baldacci, Procacci 2016; Clarkson 1992)
- various, sometimes contradictory, parts of our personality at work as described by Palmer (2007)
- Skorholt’s and Starkey’s (2010) professional development model with the intriguing name “The Three Legs of the Practitioner’s Learning Stool”
We will talk, experience, expand our understanding of professional identity and look for personal meaning and value in what we do.
